Manifesting Material Miracles through Positive Intangible Thoughts

Thinking positively about circumstances even when situations seem depressing and hopeless not only boosts mood, creates motivation, cures stress and relieves anxiety, but also has the power to attract positive energy using the principles of the Laws of Attraction. Manifesting goals and our deepest wants and desires into material miracles is often only a thought away.

Hemal Radia, the metaphysical master who hosts a world-famous blog “Manifesting and the Law of Attraction”, together with teleseminars and private coaching , assisting participants with harnessing the Law of Attraction and creating positive energy and vibrations reminds us that, “the key to what we want already exists in the universe.” In fact, according to adherents of the Laws of Attraction theory and Radia, “when we generate thoughts into the universe, the process of manifestation begins.” Radia reminds participants that when they visualize what they want, they do it, “because they love the imagery.”

So, how can individuals combine everyday positive thinking with the principles of the Law of Attraction in order to manifest goals, dreams or desired outcomes?

You are What You Think

The principles of the natural Law of Attraction clearly contain a psychological dynamic and are premised upon positive thoughts and the attraction of similar thoughts, circumstances and opportunities to the positive thinker. Positive thinking, the technique used to master the Law of Attraction in an individual’s favor, teaches that thoughts produce consistent and similar real life experiences and opportunities. Negative thoughts become entrenched into reality through negative experiences. Likewise positive thoughts become associated with positive experiences. Persistent negative thoughts cause anxiety, fear, vulnerability, insecurity, self-pity and self-doubt that invariably attract negative experiences.

Escaping a cycle of negativity can be especially difficult. Individuals trapped in endless streams of negative thoughts find their moods affected and plagued with feelings of inadequacy and they are unable to see beneficial and better opportunities that surround them, while positive forward thinking individuals more readily seize given opportunities and become motivated to work towards achieving long-term goals.

Live in Solutions

‘Channeling positive thoughts’ means selectively filtering and focusing upon positive thoughts in the endless stream of random mental images that whirl through the brain on a daily basis. Visualizing the thought in its concrete reality is the first step towards its materialization and peaks the individual’s motivation to turn the thought into reality. Thoughts attract similar thoughts like magnets; positive thinking yields more happy thoughts until eventually positive thinking becomes automatic and natural.

In theory this appears simple, yet in reality eliminating negative thoughts, especially when they are accompanied with emotions such as intense anxiety, depression or loss of control, can be very challenging. Negativity is a fact of life, thus when negative thoughts do arise, it is crucial to focus upon the positive aspect of the situation or circumstance or transform the thought into an optimistic one.

Choose Happiness

While emotions are not in and of themselves a fixed choice, long-term, chronic states and attitudes are. Chronic states are a choice not a static, unalterable frame of mind and spirit. Making the choice to move on or to reach a goal to attain happiness and self-fulfillment is the first step to realizing it and allows the individual to create an attainable and realistic process to achieve it. Achieving small changes in a step-by- step process builds individual confidence in the goal realization process and makes the once unattainable, unrealistic thought closer to a miraculous, magnificent reality.

Studies on GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorders)

Generalized anxiety disorders remain one of the most common forms of anxiety disorders found in the general population, yet are the least studied despite their prevalence and disturbing psychological effect on sufferers. As its name suggests, Generalized Anxiety Disorders involve excessive, unrelenting, omnipresent general anxiety about issues that cause ordinary people only infrequent or intermittent worry or concern: jobs, money, health, marriage, or family problems.

Anxiety can originate in many different ways, including repeated and chronic stress, environmental factors, physiological causes, traumatic childhood experiences, or hereditary predisposition towards anxiety.

General, Not Localized

Unlike phobias or panic disorders which reflect specific and situational anxiety triggered by particular fears, generalized anxiety sufferers experience constant and persistent feelings of worry in everyday life - in general, making the disease far-reaching, affecting every aspect of a sufferer’s life.

Multiple medical studies have affirmed the varying degrees of success in implementing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) treatments combined with self-induced positive reinforcement thinking to help alleviate general anxiety symptoms.

Some Interesting Studies

Some surprising studies on General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) reveal that:

Generalized Anxiety Disorders can be linked to peptic ulcer disease, giving the condition yet another physiological origin. As published in a Colombia University Health Sciences Research Brief, a 2004 study conducted by Dr. Goodwin and co-author Murray B. Stein, M.D., from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California at San Diego in California, analyzed data from the National Comorbidity Survey, a household survey of U.S. individuals aged 15 to 54, to determine the relationship between Generalized Anxiety Disorders and ulcers and published findings in ‘Psychosomatic Medicine’ in the November-December 2004 issue. The study upheld previous findings that ulcers and anxiety share a common link. “The identification of a dose-response relationship between the two disorders offers further support for the hypothesis that the relationship between the two disorders is genuine," says Goodwin.

Nutritional Therapy

Anxiety disorders are associated with magnesium (and also zinc) deficiencies and nutrition therapy can be an extremely helpful supporting treatment in alleviating chronic anxiety. Pantothenic acid, calcium and magnesium are natural anxiety remedies. Various clinical studies and open trials associate magnesium deficiencies with fatigue and weakness, hyper-emotionality, anxiety, headaches, light-headedness and insomnia.

When considering nutritional therapy as a possible treatment option, it is worth noting that alternative and complimentary herbal therapies using agents such as Rhodiola Rhosea, Valerian root, St. John’s Wort, Ginseng, Passaflora flower and Kava Kava can induce relaxation and help control anxiety. Proper nutritional therapy and nutritional supplements containing anti-anxiety ingredients can cause general anxiety symptoms to subside. Ongoing clinical studies on the use of drug alternative herbal therapies as substitutes for or as compliments to drug therapies continues to be a promising area of mental health research.

Alternative therapies such as electropuncture may be a useful anti-anxiety treatment in the future. Dr. A. Sanderson, Consultant Psychiatrist, South Bedfordshire Community Health Care Trust, U.K., as published on the Priory.com website, reported a successful case study of a 33 year old woman who successfully underwent electropuncture treatment for thirty minutes in weekly sessions. According to the study, sterile disposable acupuncture needles (0.5" length and 0.22mm diameter) were inserted at the following acupuncture points: Bilaterally at Liver 3, Spleen 6, Stomach 36, Large Intestine 4 and Triple Heater 16. The woman showed initial anxiety improvement and maintained positive results when followed up six months after her treatment.

How do the Cognitive Principles of NLP Work?

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is one of the most advanced, highly complex and modern psychotherapeutic techniques, often used in conjunction with hypnotherapy to re-program the way the brain connects thoughts and stimuli in order to change behaviors and experiences.

The Basics

According to NLP practitioners, words and perceptions are the result of subconscious programming, and ailments will continue to persist as long as they remain unchallenged at the subconscious level. For example, in the case of anxiety disorder sufferers, irrational feelings of panic and fear are provoked by a subconscious response in any ordinary situation, and if this inaccuracy remains uninfluenced and modified at the subconscious level, the patient has little hope of changing this psychological condition.

As in the case of hypnotherapy, NLP is inherently patient-centered and operates on an understanding of three distinct yet interconnected principles to reprogram experiences at the subconscious level. However, unlike hypnotherapy, patients are generally not placed into trance-like states in order to target subconscious processes, although hypnotherapy is integral to some models of NLP conditioning.

“Neuro” involves the neural signals that work within the neurological symbols in order to send, receive and restore information.

“Linguistic” involves the language and messages that are submitted and received.

“Programming” involves the way the content or message is perceived, interpreted and converted to experiences, thoughts, sensations and feelings.

How it Works

In order to perceive and make sense of the world, everyone uses the five senses, which are called the representational system. The senses are visual (images), auditory (sounds), kinesthetic (touch and internal feelings), gustatory (tastes) and olfactory (smells). The representational images created using the five senses are called modalities in NLP therapy, and these images are innumerable and are readily altered. The filters, or constraints, our feelings, thoughts and value systems impose on a particular thought or concept are called sub-modalities.

To illustrate a simple thought using this complete model, consider a chair. The modality used to describe the thought of the chair might be wood, iron or four legs. These modalities may help one to think of a dining room chair, a kitchen chair, or an armchair in a living room. The image that is formed in the mind of a leather armchair in a living room is somehow influenced by the sub-modality of our thoughts and prejudices. Perhaps the chair imagined at a given moment is similar to one that really exists and is similar to one at home or at the office. Your modality image is tainted by experience, which forms part of your sub-modality.

Using this cognitive model of sense, modality and sub-modality, a NLP practitioner will focus upon subconsciously manipulating all three in order to produce lasting behavioral and attitudinal changes. The practitioner will analyze every word the patient speaks, connecting it to subconscious perceptions and ideas, identifying the root cause, as well as all body language and movement, through a series of question-answer conversations, entitled the “meta-model.” Of particular interest to the NLP practitioner is how sub-modality, thoughts, opinions and value systems skew, distort or manipulate true perceptions of reality.

Analyzing language patterns helps the NLP practitioner identify the patient’s true subconscious makeup and perceptions of reality, and once understood, the practitioner reconditions thoughts and underlying core beliefs to correct the ailment or troublesome behaviors.

Cultivating the Law of Attraction Theory and Applying it Practically (Part 2)

Whether we believe it or not, the universe is constantly working towards achieving an end purpose, goal, or dream of every individual. Time, action and energy (personal enthusiasm associated with accomplishing the goal) are the three integral ingredients for the universe to manifest dreams and desires. The key to realizing dreams is to help the Law of Attraction evolve towards our desired end through allowing (i.e., eliminating negative thoughts or self-sabotage), encouraging positive thoughts and emotions, and the cultivation of rewarding opportunities.

Avoid Restricting the Circumstances, Channels and Avenues for the Dream to Manifest

In order for a particular desire to become reality it must be realistically possible to materialize with the available means. Setting a fixed goal, including the specific criteria of how it will happen, when and under what circumstances, can cause apprehension about the goal itself; as well as fuel a sense of stubbornness and closed-mindedness about surroundings and better opportunities. The world is filled with circumstances, odds, factors, choices and fortune that influence how, when and if the desire will actually materialize. Rather than wishing for a win on Sunday’s lottery or falling in love with X, set a goal for reaching a specific level of prosperity or finding a soul mate with particular characteristics, which the world can deliver from a multitude of sources.

Develop Mind Focusing Techniques

Laws of Attraction expert Hemal Radia (http://www.manifestingandlawofattraction.com/) advises participants in his blog posts and teleseminars to first think of what they want, what excites or fills them with joy (as opposed to fixating on what they do not want to manifest). He explains that the mind cannot process negative thoughts, and thus associates vibrations with negative thoughts even when we do not wish a particular event to happen. Speak in positives, rather than in negatives. Radia explains, “So if you are saying ‘I don’t want to be poor’, your mind has to think of ‘not poor’, i.e. it has to internally represent ‘poor’ and thus resonate with that vibration.” To encourage openness, when focusing the mind on dreams, Radia encourages participants to view their desires as daydreams, rather than fixed desires that must be met at all costs.

Listen and Sing to Soul Soothing Musical Vibrations

The universe is guided by vibrations, so listening to heart-warming tunes which contain positive messages about our dreams allows the soul an expressional outlet to reinforce and realign an individual’s vibration frequency, making it consistent with the aspirant’s dreams. The human body is known to respond to musical vibrations at the cellular level and sound is known to purge negativity and heal the spirit. Whatever vibrations are put into the world with strong emotions, will be returned in a like manner.

Applying the Law of Attraction principles also works soundly not only to grant desires and wishes in the everyday world, but in maintaining physical and psychological health by reinforcing a sound world view. Numerous studies have examined the health conditions of both optimists and pessimists and have linked optimism (positive thinking) and enthusiasm (energy) to reduced rates of infectious disease, faster disease recovery, later mortality, greater achievements, higher sense of personal satisfaction and reduced stress and anxiety, as compared to pessimists.

While current circumstances may seem dire, by placing your attention on your dreams and desires and allowing yourself to receive and emit more joyful emotions, you will soon find that your internal changes have manifested in unexpected ways in your external reality. The only way to know for certain is to follow Hemal’s advice and watch as your world shifts in subtle and dramatic ways.

Making the Law of Attraction Theory Work in Everyday Life

All action begins with thoughts and ideas. Not surprisingly, positive actions begin with positive thoughts, while negative actions are the result of negative thoughts and ideas. Purchasing a wonderful gift begins with thoughts and feelings of happiness, tenderness and love, while murdering another originates with thoughts and feelings of anger, hatred and suffering. The principles that define the mysterious and universal Laws of Attraction are really no mystery at all: like energy attracts like energy. Humans are surrounded by energy, both positive and negative. According to theory adherents; being guided by our own emotions, actions and even thoughts, we cause continual vibrations to echo into the universe, which through the exercise of free will and choice, can begin working in an individual’s favor.

On his website Hemel Radia, creator of the well-loved blog “Manifesting and the Law of Attraction” and numerous teleseminars, asserts that, “the universe will provide as many perspectives as you ask and are open to, in response to our vibration alignment as determined by free will and choices.”

While there is some controversy and uncertainty about the effect of human thought processes and actions on the universe’s manifestation of our innermost desires, the impact of positive thought on motivation, goal setting, and positive outcome cannot be denied. In order to change lifestyle circumstances, restart careers, attract new loves and opportunities and take control and master additions and dependence, it is important to combine positive thought with an open mentality and attitude. It is important to recognize that the universe’s plans for someone may take a different course than the path an individual feels he or she must walk.

Eliminate Negativity and Let the Universe Work in Your Favor

Keeping an optimistic and positive outlook is extremely important in maintaining the confidence and courage levels necessary to pursue new goals, cultivate new opportunities and avoid wallowing in self pity. Eradicating a negative mentality through the use of “thought stopping techniques,” blocking unreasonable and unnecessary negativity, and focusing on more joyful thoughts helps maintain an upbeat and optimistic attitude. However positive thinking alone is not sufficient to generate results, although it can be enough to spur determined individuals to serious action.

Never Remain Fixated on the Goal and Also Concentrate on the Process

Asking, “Why has this not happened yet?” or “When is this going to happen?” provokes harmful impatience, lack of confidence and disbelief in the final result. Not only can these thoughts cause feelings of negativity, reckless impulsiveness and impatience, but also it distracts from the process of goal attainment, which often manifests itself in smaller signs of success and positive changes. The universe is (at times) slow-moving and dream manifestation only occurs when the time is right and certain conditions are met. Often circumstances are built up slowly, as the universe slowly progresses towards the goal in stages. The final result is usually not immediately evident. Expecting the goal to be reached in an unreasonable time span will only cripple the process of dream achievement with doubt and insecurity. Keeping an open mind about both the time required and the result will help maintain confidence without putting undue stress or pressure on the individual.

Can We Determine Sexual Preference at a Glance?

It is a power that many individuals feel that they have, the “Gaydar” made famous by Ellen DeGeneres in her sitcom – but is it really possible to guess sexual orientation at a glance?

Certainly the ability to accurately predict another person’s sexual preference simply through visual means is a talent that would be found useful by many men and women in the modern world. Those searching for a partner would be well served by a visual indicator that allow them to separate possible candidates from those who would not be well suited.

Predicting Sexuality From Looks Alone

And now a study printed in the ‘Journal of Experimental Social Psychology’ would seem to indicate that most individuals have at least some powers of perception that allow them to identify sexual orientation. The research, carried out by Nalini Amabady, pioneer of the “thin slicing” theory, which holds that humans are capable of accurately judging strangers in an extremely short timeframe, set out to ascertain whether participants could accurately categorize men according to their sexuality by simply looking at photographs.

Straight or Gay

Participants were shown pictures of men selected from dating sites and Facebook profiles for periods of time ranging from 33 milliseconds to 10 seconds and then asked to determine if the model was straight or gay. The results indicated that 50 milliseconds was sufficient time for an individual to make a judgment on the sexuality of another person.

There is nothing earth shattering in these results, which saw more than four in ten guesses being incorrect; however, the 57 percent accuracy rate for recognizing the gay men in the photographs is certainly higher than would be expected to occur by chance, and the absence of any facial hair, jewelry or accessories such as eye glasses meant that participants were basing their judgments on faces alone.

Features Clue to Sexual Orientation?

Thus while none of the participants demonstrated complete accuracy every time they viewed a photo, it would seem that there are certainly some indicators of sexuality in the passive male face.

It would appear that the focus of future research will be in discovering what factors the correct answers were based upon. While in a real life situation certain social and behavioral factors may lead to an assumption about a person’s sexuality, these pictures were of passive faced men with no additional information supplied. So, is it possible there are recognizable biological differences between gay and straight men that can be perceived at a subconscious level? If the arguments for sexual preference being genetically proscribed are to be believed then certainly it would seem a viable possibility; if sexuality is a characteristic carried in our genes then it is surely plausible that the clues are present in our features. Only further research will reveal the truth.

Is There Such a Thing as “Just Good Friends?”

It is the eternal friendship question that has plagued our society for generations – can men and women really just be platonic friends or is there always a sexual undertone to cross-gender relationships?

Across the decades close male and female friends have found that many simply do not believe that platonic relationships are possible. Society appears to find it difficult to conceive of the ideal that a woman and a man might share a deep fondness for one other without sexual politics coming into play.

Sex Destroys Cross Gender Friendships

Certainly it appears that in our youth we openly entertain friendships with members of the opposite sex; sometimes these remain platonic, on other occasions a sexual element is introduced, often leading to the dissolution of the friendship. That said, once we “settle” into a relationship with one partner, our opposite gender friends often seem to melt away, a fairly strong sign that however open minded an individual may believe themselves to be, at the heart of the matter, deep-seated beliefs often comes into play – whether play is intended or not.

Three Quarters of Men Claim Women Friends

A study carried out by Dr. Geoffrey Grief of the University of Maryland, author of the book ‘Understanding Male Friendships’, found that there were many men who professed to enjoy platonic relationships with women. Of the men surveyed, 75 percent claimed to participate in platonic relationships with females, with only 25 percent restricting themselves to the platonic company of men.

Dr. Grief explained that the shift in social boundaries and gender roles had allowed the emergence of the cross gender relationship phenomenon saying, “Even today, these friendships can have ambiguous sexual boundaries.”

Cross Gender Friendships “Enriching”

However, psychologist Christopher Ryan, co-author of the upcoming book ‘Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality’, argues that the question is too black and white. “Of course men and women can be friends. A little psychological sophistication would leave most adults capable of negotiating these situations. And in the final analysis, these are the friendships that are the most enriching of all – those that involve a bit of reach.

Women’s Passionate Friendships

Contrarily, Dr. Terri Apter, Senior Tutor at Newnham College, Cambridge, argues that the issues lies in the misconception of a woman’s passion for her relationships – a passion that is evident in her friendships with women as well as men. She stated. “Female friendships are well-known for their passionate nature… but for some reason, there is a general cynicism about passionate closeness between a male and female friend.

Dr. Apter explained that each friendship is created by those who share it, and the boundaries are set by the individuals within their relationships. For this reason exchanges that may be seen as platonic by a male and female friend engaging might be judged otherwise by outside observers.

A Good Idea – In Theory

Whether platonic friendship between men and women actually exists or not, it would seem that both genders are keen to believe in the possibility of its existence. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that whatever the intentions involved, a close cross gender friend can often prove to be a bone of contention once one of the parties to such a friendship becomes involved in a committed relationship.
